You are cool? I’m cooler!

28 Aug

When you live in Paris, France you never think about cooler.

When you live in Florida, it’s a real question as it’s so hot here all the time.

Picnics, shopping at the grocery store, or just driving around with cold beverages in the trunk are just the basics.

Those are the standard usages for a cooler but when you live out of a suitcase in hotel rooms and can’t empty the fridge to put your own stuff (you touch/move, you pay) … you need a cooler solution.

I need a cooler!

3 brands are standing out in the “cooler world”: Yeti, Pelikan and Icemule.

  • Yeti is a great brand and they have a wide range of “cool” products available from the tumblers to proper wheeled cooler. I liked the Yeti Roadie 20 ($199), perfect for the car … but I can’t fly with this!!!
  • Same with the Pelikan ProGear Elite wheeled cooler ($341 for a 40L). Very cool but not ready to wheel it around the world and to check it in.

Then there was one, the Icemule cooler!

I decided to go with the Classic large (enough for 18 cans and ice). The price is fair $69,95 and it keeps everything cold for 24 hours, I just need to refill the ice everyday (easy when you are in an hotel).

This model is enough to keep cold my chia puddings from ChiaPods, tigernut horchata  from Organic Gemini and coconut water from Harmless Harvest for the day.

OK, now lets test it for the next 2 weeks in my hotel room in NYC … more to come

PS: The small and medium sizes are also available.

Behind the wheel.

5 Aug

I’m back behind the wheel after 15 years of taking the metro and riding the skateboard, and, as you know me now, I like to be prepared.
You never know what can happen, so let’s get ready (maybe I’m watching too many bad movies …).

Sometimes during accidents, your belt is stuck and you need to cut it to escape the wreckage. I got your back!

And if you need to break the window and kicking doesn’t cut it, I got it covered too thanks to the StatGear Auto Escape Tool.
For only $9,95 you have the 2 in 1 tool that will cut the belt and break the window. In the rest position, the Escape Tool is securely fastened to the sun breaker ready to be used.

Hydration is key during long summer drive in Florida, it’s great to have an ice tea that stays cold during hours. With the insulated Klean Kanteen (double wall bottle, dish-washer friendly), your beverage will stay cold 24 hours and warm 12 hours.

Also if it’s really hot out there, it’s good to have the hydration tabs to drop in your bottle.
Then you fill it with water (the Nunn tabs are unsweetened, so no sugar kick and down, just the electrolytes straight to your muscles).
Those tabs are made for desk jobs but also to support my sport activities where I’m sweating big time and loosing lots of electrolytes.

And if I’m hungry on the way home, I always have a package of Jerky in my backpack, the Mapple Bourbon Churro from Three Jerks Jerky is my favourite flavour.

I’m always fully charged with my Aluminium Dual Car charger (from Rokform).
It’s a great combo with the Rokform suction mount for iPhone (for once, a stand that’s not falling off the windshield … priceless).
I love the 2m~6feet charging cable by Apple to charge the phone while using Waze to find my way.
The 2nd slot is used for charging my external batteries.

In the trunk, I use the Gear Tie  Loopable Twist (from Niteize) to secure my skateboard and stuff that could be moving in the trunk.

Safe travels!

The polar bear has his very own bottle, me too!

Photo 19-03-2014 5 24 28 pmI love bottles, I carry mine everyday from home to the office and back home.
I also love to have my bottle when I travel.
My collection includes
. 2 aluminium Kleen Kantean (one double-wall, one regular simple wall),
. one Bryta with a filter,
. one spill-free Contigo,
and since a few days, a super cool Polar Bottle!

Again, I left home without my bottle, I was desperate and needed a bottle for the next 10 days in hot and sunny Miami. I couldn’t buy just any bottle! I needed a cool bottle that I would keep using back home.
After “a little benchmark of the market”, my choice went for the Polar Bottle.
A double-wall plastic bottle with a cool design but also practical and optimized for the best usage.
The characteristics of the Polar Bottle are the following
. light because of plastics,
. safe for your health because BPA and phthalate-free,
. dishwasher-safe (put in the top rack),
. freezer-safe,
. easy to maintain thanks to a removable valve,
. spill-free, and I tested it in my backpack where it’s laying on the bottom full of liquid and not a drop!

It’s not only a cheap ($10,95 for the 20 ounces) but also a trusted and stylish bottle.
